CLARA SOLA screens at Globe Cinema January 19.

In a remote village in Costa Rica, 40-year-old Clara (Wendy Chinchilla Araya) endures a repressively religious and withdrawn life under the command of her mother. Her uncanny affinity for creatures large and small allows Clara to find solace in the natural world around her. Tension builds within the family as Clara’s younger niece approaches her quinceañera, igniting a sexual and mystical awakening in Clara, and a journey to free herself from the conventions that have dominated her life.

This deeply evocative debut feature from director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén world premiered at Cannes Directors Fortnight and has been selected as Costa Rica's submission to the Academy Awards® for Best International Feature.

Rated 14A

In response to rising cases and to keep audiences safer, CIFF has decided to cap attendance at screenings to 50 people per cinema to allow for additional distancing.

This will policy will remain in effect for all screenings prior to February 9 and may be extended at CIFF’s discretion. Individuals who have already purchased or reserved tickets will not be affected. We do recommend that Top Docs and Global Perspective subscription holders who have not reserved seats for upcoming screenings do so immediately to avoid missing out on tickets.

Single Ticket: $13.50, includes tax, plus fees
