Toronto-based documentary filmmaker and cinematographer Nicholas de Pencier (FOUR WINDS AND A PRAYER, WATERMARK) examines the complex global impact that the internet has on free speech, privacy and activism.
Based on the book by University of Toronto Professor Ron Deibert, BLACK CODE looks at how the internet and communications are monitored by governments in their attempts to control and censor citizens. The documentary is an intensive study about the battle for control of cyberspace, and challenges ideas of citizenship, privacy and democracy.
