Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen footage stored in the National Geographic archives, JANE tells the story of a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific thinking of the time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world.

In the 1960s virtually nothing was known about chimps in the wild, and so National Geographic sent a cameraman to document Jane Goodall's pioneering work with chimpanzees in Tanzania. 

Award-winning director Brett Morgen (COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK, THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE) weaves together this archival footage with new interviews and an original score from legendary composer Philip Glass. The result is an unprecedented, intimate portrait of the world's most iconic primatologist — a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the world’s most admired conservationists.
