Calgary, AB - CIFF is proud to present a new hybrid model of in-cinema and at-home programming for the 21st Annual Calgary International Film Festival taking place September 24 - October 4, 2020. And with it, new ticket bundle options that can be used interchangeably - in audience’s homes or at the festival venues -  during the festival. In addition, CIFF has lowered their single ticket price and is now offering a “Friends with Benefits”  Membership, which will offer various perks for the festival, merchandise, and year-round programming.

“Our greatest aim this year is to ensure that every film lover in Alberta can take in the festival - from at home with streaming, or at one of our festival venues. We think this year’s bundles and reduced ticket prices will ensure no one misses out and new audiences can experience what CIFF has to offer. Alberta submissions in particular have been incredibly high. We can’t wait to come together as a province and celebrate our local industry alongside the best of this year’s international and Canadian cinema.” - Steve Schroeder, CIFF’s Executive DIrector.

This year’s festival will feature over 90 in-cinema screenings over the 11-day festival and will include at-least 80 features and shorts available to stream online. Some films will be in-cinema exclusives, while others will be available both online and in-cinema - giving audiences flexibility during the pandemic. In a pre-festival survey, CIFF’s audience showed a 90% interest in virtual at-home programming, and encourages audiences to get creative with hosting their own festival watch parties from their homes or backyards.

This year’s festival will not include galas or out-of-town guests and social distancing will be guaranteed with increased time between screenings and limited seating and capacity in the cinema.
