Calgary Film History Scavenger Hunt September 14th!
Posted on September 3, 2019
On Saturday, September 14 in partnership with CalgaryMovies.com and Walk The YYC, the Calgary International Film Festival will host their first scavenger hunt. The hunt will showcase the city’s extensive history in film and television as a lead up to its 20th anniversary Festival. Twenty clues to celebrate 20 years of CIFF, will be released the morning of the Scavenger Hunt that will lead Calgarians to 20 film and television destination spots within the city. The contestant who visits the most places will win the grand prize of one Festival Pass to the upcoming Festival September 18-29. T&Cs apply.
Over the past 20 years, Calgary has become a hot-bed for the screen industry with its towering cityscapes, expansive prairie skies and small town backdrops for local and international productions. Oscar winning films and Award winning TV shows have all been shot in and around Calgary and now Calgarians get to visit some of these spots by guessing the clues! Some of these films will also be showcased at this year’s new Retrospective Series ‘Made in Alberta’.
Those interested in the hunt can participate in two ways, self-guided or with Walk the YYC. The 20 clues will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. on September 14 and participants are welcomed to start as soon as the clues are posted. Alternatively, Walk The YYC will be hosting a free walking tour at 10a.m. and will take participants to 12 of the 20 clues. Once participants find the clues, they are instructed to post a photo on social media and tag @calgaryfilm, @calgarymovies and @yycwalk in order to be entered. Everyone who participates via the tour or online will be entered in a draw for general admission tickets to the 20th Anniversary Calgary International Film Festival.
Clues for the hunt will be revealed via calgarymovies.com and on our Facebook Event https://www.facebook.com/events/2519908558072471/ at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14.
