The quiet life of world-famous crime novelist Anne Perry—a woman with legions of fans and more than 25 million copies of her books in print—was shattered in 1994 by the breakout performance from Kate Winslet in the hit film HEAVENLY CREATURES. The film portrayed a dark and secretive part of Perry’s past—a past that involved the brutal murder of her childhood friend’s mother and serving time in jail under her given name, Juliet Hulme.

Welcomed into Perry’s cloistered existence in her Highland home alongside two loyal servants and a very small circle of friends, filmmaker Dana Linkiewicz’s first feature (which is also her postgraduate thesis work for the Cologne Academy of Media Arts) not only looks at the process of creating popular crime fiction, but also the toll guilt, lost love and loneliness can take on a public person in search of a private life.
