BITTER CHRISTMAS unfolds across two intertwined timelines. In 2004, advertising director Elsa spends a long December weekend navigating her relationship with her boyfriend Bonifacio and her closest friends, Patricia and Natalia. More than two decades later, filmmaker Raúl struggles through a creative drought as he writes a screenplay that gradually reveals itself to be Elsa's story.

As fiction and autobiography begin to blur, Elsa emerges as Raúl's alter ego, and the people closest to him become inescapable sources of inspiration.
