In an explosive collaboration of tap and spoken word, dancer Lisa La Touche and poet Wakefield Brewster retell the story of Charles Daniels, a Black man who initiated one of Canada’s first civil rights cases after being refused a seat at the Grand Theatre in Calgary.
The powerful and emotional follow-up to KICKIN' UP A FUSS: THE CHARLES DANIELS STORY (CIFF 2021). Wakefield brings an intensity with his spoken word piece as Lisa crafts an energetic and beautiful tap score. Bringing these two amazing artists together and orchestrating the harmony is filmmaker Cheryl Foggo, (JOHN WARE: RECLAIMED, CIFF 2021) who continues to bring a fresh look to the underrepresented history of Black people on the prairies.
