In the late 1960s, at the behest of a rather domineering father, 3 sisters from a small rural town in the American Northeast formed a band. And even though the Wiggins sisters didn't particularly 'want' to be in a band, The Shaggs were born - their father determined to make them stars.

Despite their lack of musical ability, Austin Wiggins pulled his daughters out of school, bought them some instruments, and made them play weekly gigs at the local town hall dances. In 1969, Austin paid to have The Shaggs record their debut (and only) album, "Philosophy of the World". The result was one of the most bizarre, maligned, and mocked albums ever released. Until it wasn't.
