Based on his short film SAME OLD, Korean-Canadian director Lloyd Lee Choi's (CLOSING DYNASTY, CIFF 2022) debut feature LUCKY LU, premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight to rave reviews.
Lu, a Chinese immigrant in New York City, eagerly prepares a new apartment for his wife Chun and daughter Queenie, who are finally joining him after years apart. Working as a food delivery driver using a rented e-bike, Lu’s plans unravel when the bike is stolen. Desperate to replace it, he turns to old friends and a loan shark, only to face rejection and betrayal. Scammed out of his apartment deposit, Lu resorts to stealing a bike himself.
