In June 1994, gunmen burst into a small pub in the rural town of Loughinisland in Northern Ireland and opened fire, killing six Catholic men and injuring five others.

It's been more than 20 years since, and despite a wealth of forensic evidence, opportunities to progress in the investigation, and leads, the perpetrators have never been identified and the crime remains officially unsolved to this day. In NO STONE UNTURNED, Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney (THE ARMSTRONG LIE, GOING CLEAR, ZERO DAYS) returns to that fateful day and follows the myriad threads that lead away from it in an effort to discover what really happened - and which organizations, large and small, may have a hand in ensuring that the truth stays buried as it has for so long.

A timely reflection on sectarian violence, mistrust of your own fellow citizens, and the negative effects of sanctioned misdirection and secrecy, NO STONE UNTURNED is an incredibly powerful tour de force that contextualizes conflicts around the world by focusing on just one village on the outskirts of Europe. Helmed by Gibney - whom Esquire called "the most important documentarian of our time" - the film is a must-watch masterwork that, at its heart, brings up the age-old question: how do we eradicate violence and bring about justice when nobody wants to talk about it?

NO STONE UNTURNED is the second film in the 2017-18 Doc Soup Series co-presented by Hot Docs.
