Online Code of Conduct

CIFF IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING A SAFE & POSITIVE FESTIVAL ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS AMAZING FILMMAKER & FILM FAN INTERACTION.

This Code applies to all CIFF activities, events, and platforms, both in-person and online.

We acknowledge that together we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region, which includes the Blackfoot First Nation tribes of Siksika, Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley and the Region 3 Metis Nation of Alberta.

CIFF is a platform for thought-provoking conversations, compelling films, and innovative experiences. We encourage your participation and curiosity, the exchange of ideas and perspectives, and to that end, all attendees, staff, filmmakers, sponsors, and volunteers at CIFF are required to comply with the following code of conduct leading up to and throughout the entire event.

CIFF is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive environment free of harassment or discrimination for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, physical appearance, race, or ethnicity. We invite everyone engaging with CIFF to take an active role through leading by example, looking out for those around you, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal or online comments related to gender, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, physical appearance, race or ethnicity, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of films, Q&As or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances, physical or verbal, publically or through online communication channels.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the CIFF staff immediately. You can reach our Operations Manager, Katherine Penhale, at info@ciffcalgary.ca (please include ‘Urgent’ in the subject line). You can either reach out digitally to us or find us in a venue-staff identified by ‘Staff’ badges.

Anyone not complying with the Code of Conduct can have their festival tickets confiscated immediately WITHOUT REFUND at the sole discretion of CIFF. CIFF also reserves the right to ban the violator from future events. This code exists to ensure a safe and fun environment for all CIFF attendees, staff, filmmakers, sponsors, and volunteers.
